Your Body Has Reset Buttons

Because the body is electrical in nature, the nervous system will often pop a ‘circuit-breaker’ when there has been over-use, injury or chronic stress causing a muscle or series of muscles to stop working optimally. Knowing where the reset buttons are to restore the energy flow can be a game-changer.

If you are a therapist who isn’t aware of this circuitry, you may fail to permanently resolve physical issues because few or no messages are getting to the tissues that are in trouble because neurological messages aren’t being delivered and affected areas cannot respond appropriately.

For individuals who practice manual muscle testing these areas are easy to identify. The process basically involves positioning a limb in a certain manner to isolate a contracted muscle and then attempting to push it along its range of motion while asking the client to keep their limb at the start position. When neurological signalling has been disrupted, the limb will not be easy to hold at the start position and the activity of pushing the limb will demonstrate that it unlocks and the muscle will ‘appear weak’.

This process identifies muscles that are under-facilitated (in case you’re not a therapist, this term simply means ‘not-working-properly’). This process can be repeated from head to foot will to reveal several unsuspected causes for chronic issues. So now what? Magic happens when you know how to reset circuits in order to bring these muscles back to proper facilitation.

As a physical therapist, have you ever assigned rehabilitative activities to build muscle strength but the outcome has been disappointing? The reason could be because the brain has ‘blown the circuit’ communicating with the muscle. Synergist muscles have probably taken over the assigned activity so that the client can perform the task but the muscle you are trying to rehabilitate is actually ‘offline’.

Fifty years of little-known research by scientists has identified that muscles share a fixed number of ‘energy circuits’ in the body and have pinpointed where their reset buttons are located. Under-facilitated muscles can almost always be reset just by activating certain reflexes with fingertip pressure for as little as 30 seconds. It is somewhat like jiggling a breaker switch in the electrical panel after you’ve overloaded a circuit in your home from running too many appliances at the same time. Repeating the muscle-test after this reset has been performed will demonstrate that the muscle has regained its ability to communicate with the nervous system and will now lock and easily resist testing pressure. Once this has been done, neurological signals can be delivered and exercises will now benefit the client to a much greater degree. It will take them much less time to return to wellness.

New research by Muscle Tuners International Inc. has identified how to work with the opposite issue which is over-facilitation of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and to affect these just as easily. Working with tissues which are too-tight typically automatically brings under-facilitated muscles online and provides more durable therapy results.  The Muscle Tuning™ System is a way of using manual bio-feedback to give a readout about what is stressed and then it will communicate the best solution. After the process has been applied clients feel increased vitality, greater range of motion, more calmness and less pain, more rapidly than you might expect.

I’m always happy to have conversations with anyone who is curious about this process. Contact me to have your questions answered.
